Earlier this week, the Home Secretary vowed to tackle crime culture, in an unveiling of her plan to stop 'war on gangs'. The plans follow the shocking anti-social behaviour we saw in the riots this summer. An estimated 6% of the population are in a gang, a total of 450 000 young people. The new series of measures has been initiated into Five Ps: Prevention, pathways out, punishment, partnership and provision.
More statements from the government this week, as Tory Nicholas Soames and Labour's Frank Field say the Government must 'act now' to stop Britain's population soaring to over 70 million by 2027. It has been revealed that 200 homes will need to built every day for 23 years, in order for Britain to cope with immagrants at the current rate.

Tragedy struck as seven people have been confirmed dead in the M5 accident in Somerset. 51 people have been injured in a 34-vehicle pile-up and police fear the death toll may rise. Officers said Friday night's crash, which happened close to junction 25 northbound at about 20:30, led to a 'massive fireball' at the scene. The cause of the crash is not clear but the road was wet and foggy in patches. Drivers and passengers died as vehicles caught fire in the accident. The tragedy is likely to renew the debate about motorway safety. It comes just weeks after the government announced plans to raise the speed limit to 80mph.
