Here we go!

The trial of Jo Yates' murderer, Vincent Tabat took place yesterday, 10 months after the murder took plave. Tabak was sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in jail. Miss Yeates, 25, was strangled in her Clifton flat after allegedly inviting her 33 year old neighbour in for drinks last December, Bristol Crown Court heard. Today, after the case, it has emerged that the Dutch engineer kept internet pornography depicting violence against women. Prosecutors wanted to present the disturbing evidence to prove Tabak was motivated by sexual lust, but the explosive material was ruled inadmissable by the judge at Bristol Crown court. It is supposed the murderer was addicted to 'strangle porn', which could explain why he held Jo by the neck. For the family of Jo Yates, they will inevitably never overcome what has happened to Jo, however may take comfort in hoping what they state 'his life's a living hell in jail and he is the recipient of all evil'.

On a lighter note, St Pauls Catherdral opened to worshipers yesterday, after protested caused its one week closure. It is the first time the Catherdral has closed since World War Two. The protesters refused to leave peacefully which consequently led to legal action being taken in order to remove over 200 tents pitched outside by anti-capatalist demonstraters.

Ferhat Tokay, 13, from Turkey, survived five days of being buried after an earthquake of 7.2 magnitude hit the town of Ercis a week ago. Ferhat survived by drinking rainwater which had dripped through the rubble around him. The quake left 575 people dead, 2 608 injured, thousands of which  have been left homeless.

Whats this then?

In order to acheive my goal as being a successful journalist, I think it is important to mirror the movement of journalism as becoming very much interenet based, and inititate a blog, covering news stories, local, national and international. To start with I am going to blog weekly, at the end of every week, summarising the events which have unfolded during the past seven days. Look out for my first post this Sunday!
